As is the case in many regions of france, our vineyard is exposed to springtime frosts. This flail has been particulary affecting us and since 1991 causing us to suffer the loss of about two harvests during the last twelve years. Neverthless, our looses are close to the local average.

In 2002, we decided to invest in the installation of a protective spraying system. After the buds appear and as soon as the temperature reaches below 0°C, the system has to be actived. The ice that forms around the buds remains at about 0°C and protects them by its coldness.

A second 5 hectares plot has been installed for this spring wich will bring our protected area up to 28 hectares being more than 80% of our vineyard.

The effectiveness is conceivable until the temperature drops to under -7°C wich in theory, covers all the risks from March to April.
For last spring, a water supply was set up thus meaning 23 hectares of our vineyard could be protected.
